Day 1 - Setting Up

After lying in bed for hours not being able to sleep because of the time difference, we had to wake up at 6:00am. We then got dressed into our Eskom Expo for Young Scientists shirts, and then went down to the Grand Ballroom for breakfast.

Breakfast. I imagined breakfast to be cereal, or egg on toast and some fruit. However, it was quite different. There was everything that you can imagine - different kinds of breads, muffins, fresh fruit, egg, potatoes, and even strawberry-flavoured cheese! It was all such a treat, and absolutely delicious.

After breakfast, it was then time to go and officially set up our projects in the GRB Convention Centre, and I was so happy that we had registered the day before, because as we arrived in the Convention centre, the line to register was nearly going out the door!

We were each given a few items from ISWEEEP, such as a T-shirt, string-bag, book with all of the information that we need, and a tag that we have to wear at all times, to show who we are, and where we come from.

Once we made the last few adjustments to our projects, we were told that we could go and explore Houston - this was honestly so exciting, and so the three of us set off to "downtown" together for the rest of the day.
